This year our teacher is Miss Daines and we have support from our teaching assistant Miss Welch. Mrs Crane teaches the class one afternoon a week covering Miss Daines's planning and preparation time.
Our autumn topic this year is 'Invaders and Settlers' looking at the time from when the Romans left Britain around 400AD through to the invasion of William the Conqueror in 1066. We will be focusing on the Anglo-Saxons and how they struggled with the Vikings for power during this time.
PE for the whole class is on Thursday afternoon with Mrs Crane. Please note that long hair must be tied back and earrings removed for safety reasons. There may be extra PE sessions during the week so it is important that PE kits are in school at all times.
Spellings are given out on a Friday to give a week's preparation for a spelling test. Maths homework is set at the same time and should also be completed by the following Friday. A four week project will also be set for each topic to give the children a chance to pursue and present their own interests.
This year we have the music partnership working with us again to teach music skills to the class using the flute as an example instrument. Many of the skills they learn are transferable to other instruments and children may have the chance to continue their learning beyond the year with private lessons.
