PE will be on Tuesday afternoon.
Our topic is ...
We hope you have a lovely half term week. Whilst there is no set homework, please continue to read with your child . Consider making words up using the sounds we have learnt ( s,a,t,p,i,n,d,m,g,o,c,k,e,ck,u) for children to read. Children could begin to form the letters in their name.
Practise counting whenever possible and continue to look for shapes in the environment.
Children could also work on doing up their own coats as well as putting on their own hats/scarf/gloves etc.
Week Beginning 19th October
This week we are focusing on sharing.
We will be reading the story of 'Little Red Riding Hood'. We will look at the different characters in the story and how they might be feeling. We will introduce interesting vocabulary such as terrified/petrified or suspicious. Children will practise sequencing and retelling the story.
In phonics we will be recapping sounds 's/a/t/p/m/d/i/n/o/g/c/k/ck/u' as well as learning new sounds 'e'. We will be focusing on orally blending sounds together in order to hear words. Our main priority is encourage children to sound out and blend simple words themselves.
In maths we will be looking at weight, capacity and length. We will begin to think about different ways to measure items and make some comparisons, using words such as longer/shorter/heavier/lighter etc.
On Thursday we will complete a 'Healthy Activity Day'. Children can wear sports kit to school and will take part in a range of different activities. Friday is an INSET day and the school is closed to the children.

Weekly ‘help at home’
( tips to help carry on the learning at home!)
-We are looking at 'Little Red Riding Hood'. Can your child retell the story? Can then use words like 'first, next, then'? Encourage children to speak in full sentences and explore new words for different feelings.
- Can you compare different lengths/weights/capacity in your environment? Ask questions like ' which stick is the longest?'
- We are looking at 'e' . Have a go at this online game! Select phase 2 and sounds up to 'e'
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Can you zip up your own coat?
