What have we been doing?
This week we have continued to focus on being kind to others and thinking about sharing.
In our phonics lessons we have learnt sounds 'i' and 'n'. (Parent video: How to say the sounds - YouTube). We have started to practising writing these sounds on whiteboards. We have been focusing on oral blending. This is when a word is spelt out (j-a-m) and the children must 'hear' the word by blending the sound together.
In maths we have been looking at the number four. We are continuing to count up to 20 as often as possible and have been thinking about the different ways in which numbers are represented.
We have looked at the Christian story of creation and tried using some musical instruments to help us retell it.
We've been thinking about our emotions and what things make us happy. We will be looking at other emotions in the coming weeks.
How to help at home
Look for items that start with a 'n' or 'i'. Encourage children to look for those letters in the environment around them.
Look for number 1/2/3 as well and practise counting when doing activities.
Help your child learn to put their coat on independently.
A great ipad game for reading is 'Teach your Monster to Read'.
Photos and observational snapshot are on Tapestry.
