Greek pots

Class 3 studied Ancient Greek pottery, including its form, construction and structure and the colours, motifs and patterns used.

They then took this knowledge to design and make their own Greek pot, based on the techniques and materials they had learned about.

Evaluations are always a key part of any Design and Technology project,  and the children were able to talk articulately and thoughtfully about the processes involved, what had worked successfully for them and suggested improvements and why they would be helpful.

Art & Design objectives covered:

Pupils should be taught:

  • to create sketch books to record their observations and use them to review and revisit ideas
  • to improve their mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials [for example, pencil, charcoal, paint, clay]
  • about great artists, architects and designers in history
