Class 3 - Willow

Welcome to Class Three

Autumn Term 2023

We hope you have all had a restful and fun  Summer holiday and are ready for our new term,  and a new topic -  The Active Planet.

This is a geography-based topic, but with strong links to history, art, design & technology, music, literacy and reading, so will be an exciting and immersive topic for all of the children.

We will be reading  'King of the Cloud Forests' by Michael Morpurgo  and will be  learning about the Himalayas through our book study.

We will be looking at natural disasters and their causes and affects on both  the natural and human geography of the planet. This will include discovering what happened in Pompeii through reading the text 'Escape from Pompeii.'

We will also learn about the

Our topic will  be enriched by a trip to   Poole's Cavern   later on in the  term (date to be confirmed.)

Another fun and busy half term ahead!!

Please be prepared for  your learning journey by making sure you have the following with you  in school:

  • Water bottle (plastic only, and just water, not juice, please)
  • PE kit - this should be a full change, including socks! Please name all items.
  • If you will be removing earrings for PE, please ensure that you bring something that you will be able to keep them safe in  (e.g: small box/tub/bag) or leave them at home.
  • Please make sure that you bring your reading book and reading record   to school every day. You are expected to read with an adult outside of school at least 3 times a week.
